But hey, remember that this small appliance can do great things! It can actually bake a lot of cake varieties ranging from the basic sponge cake to the most complex ones.
The cooking process is similar to cooking rice, well, except, we’re making a cake. 🙂 All you need is to get all the right ingredients!
Let’s first learn how to bake a simple sponge cake using a standard rice cooker.
What You Will Need:
- 45g sugar

- 3 eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- A tablespoon of honey
- Dried raisins
How to Bake
- On a mixing bowl, add the eggs and sugar. Use an electric mixer to beat ingredients until fluffy.
- Warm the milk on a saucepan together with the honey and pour it in the egg mixture and beat well
- Place the bowl on top of a pot of hot water and continue beating until it becomes fluffy and almost double in size
- Lastly, add the flour and mix it well using a spatula.
- Grease your rice cooker inner pot with melted butter or olive oil
- Pour in the cake batter and add your raisins

- Finally, place the inner pot into the rice cooker and press the Cook button and wait!
It’s all up to you if you needed some icing for your sponge cake or this is all good.
Cooking time should be around an hour and a half but it depends on your rice cooker. If it switches to warm mode every 7-10 minutes, wait for a minute and then switch it back to Cook mode.
